Penang : Takasima Industries (M) Sdn Bhd is investing about RM12mil to establish 42 more health equipment stores in the country and overseas. The company manufactures and distributes health equipment such as treadmill and massage chairs under the brand name Takasima.
Chief executive officer Jimmy Lim Cheng Huat said six new stores would be established in Kelantan, Johor Baru, Kuala Lumpur, and Alor Star by year-end.
“Next year, we plan to establish 36 more stores in all the major local towns and in overseas countries such as Brunei, Thailand and Singapore,” he told.
Presently, Takasima Industries owns and operates 34 health equipment stores in the country under subsidiary Takasima Health-Mart Sdn Bhd. With the new outlets, the company expected next year's revenue to increase to RM100mil from RM40mil presently, Lim said.
Lim said Takasima Industries' sales revenue had doubled for the first six months of 2007.
In the first six months, it sold about 3,000 units of the F1 series treadmill compared with 1,500 units of the previous model TK1102 in the corresponding period last year.
“The F1 series achieved better sales because we introduced red leather covers, which increased the attractiveness and appeal of the equipment.
“The better sales also shows that people now place greater importance on health care equipment,” Lim added.
Lim said Takasima Industries also planned to establish fitness centres in major towns by 2010.
“By that time, we will also apply for listing on the main board,” he added.
Takasima Industries recently received the Golden Bull Award 2007 for being one of the country’s top 100 outstanding small and medium enterprises.
