Mumbai, Textile and apparel major Raymond Ltd has recently concluded talks with Reliance Retail for marketing Raymond fabrics through Reliance Retail's mall; Anirudh Deshmukh, president, retail and FMCG, Raymond Ltd said here on April 05.
Reliance Retail's first mall is being launched in Ahmedabad next month. The mall will be spread across 1.50 lakh sq ft of space.
Mr. Deshmukh, said, “Since retail is intrinsic to our business, we continue to push aggressively on this front. As part of the strategy, we will provide Raymond fabrics in bulk to be marketed through more malls in addition to Reliance Retail's mall. Plans are also on the anvil to market a wide range of men’s apparel and accessories from brands such as Manzoni, Park Avenue, ColourPlus and Parx through Reliance Retail.”
After entering into a 50:50 joint venture with the Italy-based Grotto S.p.A.for launching ‘GAS’, apparel retailing brand in India, Raymond Ltd is keeping its options open to be suppliers of Raymond denims from its manufacturing belt in Yavatmal to the former.
According to Deshmukh, Grotto S.p.A has been aggressively looking at marketing denims in India, and with Raymond being manufacturers of denims, the company can be one of its suppliers of denims.
“Of the 350 stores, TRS has a presence of 323 stores in India and 27 stores in Middle East, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal,” explained Deshmukh.
Raymond celebrates another landmark in the business of textile and apparel retailing by launching the 350th store of ‘The Raymond Shop’ (TRS). Located at the upmarket Atria Mall in Worli, Mumbai, the 350th TRS was inaugurated by Mr. Gautam Hari Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director, Raymond Ltd. Embarking on the retail journey five decades ago, TRS is today, the largest chain for fabric and garment retailing. As part of its aggressive retail expansion strategy, Raymond has envisaged the roll out of TRS and exclusive brand stores across the country. By 2010, Raymond will have a network of over 950 stores in the country, with over 2 million sq.ft of retail space.
