Khaitan launches designer fans outlet ‘Khaitan Fantasy’


Kolkata, Khaitan Electricals Limited has launched 'Khaitan Fantasy', the first outlet for premium and higher-end products in domestic fans in Kolkata. These outlets will stock designer fans, imported from China, ranging between Rs 5,000 and Rs 1.2 lakh. While the common fans will be sold through the existing distribution networks.

The company is planning to open 25 outlets across the country by March 2008. Mr Mohan Kant, vice-president corporate, is expecting a turnover of Rs 50 crore for the first year of operation from these outlets.

Khaitan is aiming at a total turnover of Rs 500 crore, out of which fans would comprise Rs 325 crore. In 2006-07.
Meanwhile, Khaitan is in the process of setting up its fifth factory at Kala Amb in Himachal Pradesh, which would produce one million units per annum.

Khaitan Electricals has also planned to set up a fan manufacturing unit at Uttaranchal with an investment of Rs 30 crore. It will add 10 lakh units to its present capacity of 30 lakh units per year. In 2006-07 KEL sold 24 lakh units last fiscal.

The Rs 310 crore company will also launch its multi-product, multi-brand 'Lmart' in Kanpur next month. The 9,000sqft shop will house home appliances of four leading brands along with products from the company's stable.

Earlier, Khaitan Electricals had diversified into manufacturing of isolators, distribution boxes, miniature circuit breakers and residual current circuit breakers apart from compact fluorescent lamps. It is targeting to sell 60 lakh lamps this year.
