NESMA Advanced Technology successfully hosted Seminar regarding GS1 MEMA Data Pool on 28th November 2006 in Riyadh at the Intercontinental Hotel. The seminar was attended by delegations from major retailers and suppliers in Saudi Arabia.
During the course of the event, two keynote speakers Mr. David Urry (Chairman of MEMA Data Pool & CEO of GS1 Malta) and Mr. Malcolm Bolden (GXS Director Global Synchronization Solution) had defined to the attendees the importance of Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) and other initiatives undertak! en by the GS1 organization i.e. BarCode, EPC Global, and eCom. In addition, the impact of bad data to the entire supply chain and to the business overall.
A number of issues were identified of which majority of delegates strongly believed would help to improve their businesses. We have also discussed various challenges faced in the retail industry and supply chain issues faced today by various businesses, such as Sales Productivity, warehouse & back room, transportation & logistics, invoices and purchase order matching, New products introduction manage! ment and etc.
As a result Nesma was able to attract major retailers to participate in the MEMA Data Pool in Saudi Arabia. Euromarche a leading retailer in Saudi Arabia has successfully signed Agreement with NESMA Advanced Technology to join MEMA Data Pool to be the leader in adopting to technology and show its support and solidarity by mandating its suppliers like P&G, Unilever, Coca Cola, Palmolive, Fa, Pepsi, Kraft, Hershey's, Doux Chicken, Cadbury, Hunts, Gellet, J&J, Lint, Bounite, Gillet, Kiri and etc to join the MEMA Data Pool.
