Manama, Visa International announced yesterday it has appointed Majeed Hujair as general manager of the company in Bahrain in addition to his current responsibility as general manager for Kuwait.
In his new role, Mr Hujair will be focusing on further developing the company's electronic payments business in Bahrain.Employed with Visa International for the past one year as general manager in Kuwait, Mr Hujair, will also be responsible for the Bahrain market effective immediately.
"We are pleased to appoint Majeed Hujair to this important role in Bahrain, one of our fastest-growing markets," said Visa International's Middle East general manager Kamran Siddiqi.
"Hujair's wealth of experience has been beneficial to Visa and has driven our business significantly in Kuwait. Majeed's invaluable and effective guidance will allow Visa to provide tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of the Bahrain banking industry, consumers and commercial institutions and contribute to the development of the payment cards industry," he added.
Mr Hujair will focus on updating the technologies used by retail outlets which accept Visa cards to provide a more reliable and secure service. He will also work closely with local government authorities to address regulatory issues regarding the payment cards industry.
Mr Hujair said, "I am pleased to be taking on this new role in such an exciting market as Bahrain. We will focus on meeting the individual needs of the various banks catering to a wide range of customer segments. We also hope to further enhance the strength and contribute to the growth of the Bahraini economy."
