Tata Indicom to roll out 500 outlets by ’08


New Delhi: Telecom service provider Tata Indicom will roll out 500 exclusive outlets pan-India by march 2008 to strengthen and increase its presence in the telecom retail space.

''We will introduce a pan-Indian network of 500 retail telecom outlets by march 2008, covering another 1.50 lakh square feet across our operation area,'' said a company source.

The source, however refused to divulge the investment details.

He said these stores will further branch out in tier ii and tier iii towns.

''Major expansion plan mode will take place in states like bihar, Delhi, UP, Punjab, Gujarat, MP, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan. Majority of the outlets would be coming in semi-urban cities or towns under these states,'' the source said.

These outlets will offer consumers a wide range of mobile phones, and a host of unique value-added services like bill collection and bill payment.

''We are encouraged by the growth in the economy and believe that India is the fastest growing market for the organised retail sector. Our target audience is youth,'' he said.

Tata Teleservices Ltd, provider of the Tata Indicom Telecom Services, has recently introduced an online retail store, empowering the customers to research, compare a wide range of handsets, tariff plans and value added services besides the preferred mobile number. With 3,000 exclusive outlets across the country, Tata Indicom has emerged as the fastest growing wireless operator as per data published by TRAI for the year ending March 2007.
