Kochi: The Coimbatore-based SP Apparels Ltd has opened its first company-owned exclusive Crocodile retail store here in the city on 29th January, industry sources said here on January 29.The store encompassing a super built up area of 1100 sq. ft. will be a part of the Baypride Mall situated at the elite Marine Drive.
The managing director of SP Apparels, Mr P. Soundararajan while inauguration the new showroom said that company was delighted to unveil this first of its kind exclusive company-owned Crocodile store at Kochi.The Crocodile product mix consists of formals, casuals/smart casuals inclusive of T-shirts, shirts, Trousers, Jeans, etc., catering to different target groups and in different price range.

"Subsequent to the takeover last year, we have initiated a complete revamp of the Crocodile brand and transformation of all the outlets to empower the brand to cater to all age groups. Under the Crocodile brand, we plan to introduce new collections for men’s formal wear as well as emerging fashion collections for young upwardly techno savvy youth and the young-at-heart customers."
However, the new concept of international store format coupled with the Grey brand identity will enthuse the Indian youth in terms of emerging fashion trends.
Mr. Sanjay Chandrasekhar, Vice President-Retail, S. P. Apparels Ltd, added, "In lieu of the retail boom in the country, we are aggressively strengthening all the retail channels. We have streamlined and revamped the distribution set-up for the Crocodile brand in the South, East and the Western markets of India. This new exclusive retail store and other upcoming new stores on the retail front will enable us to showcase the complete spectrum of Crocodile products to our loyal customers."
"Simultaneously, in our bid to explore multiple retail formats so to reach out to all prospective target groups, we have already initiated talks with several established players and chains in the organised retail sector seeking brand presence and visibility. We are rolling out 7 such company owned The Crocodile Store across India before April 2007 in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Noida and Salem. It will be 12 stores in the next 12 months and we will be adding more in numbers by 2010."
All these stores would be located in prime localities. The stores as stated earlier will have new international designs and formats with good backend systems and ably supported by software and a professional team. These formats will also be made available to the franchisees in the metropolitan and tier 2 cities where in we are having a lot of enquiries on the mode of operation of the outlets.
The company has set up a design studio and a fabric development team with understandingof global fashion and trends in the fashion industry to augment all the retail formats.
