Nick will invest $100M to expand online efforts

Nickelodeon's Kids and Family Group president Cyma Zarghami announced yesterday that the venerable children's network is betting big on online gaming: $100 million big over the next two years, to fund the development and distribution of a number of online products.

Nick's efforts will range from expanding its existing Nicktropolis property into full-on virtual world, to launching a casual games portal aimed at young female users.

“Across all of MTVN’s online sites, gaming is an important original genre and we are committed to delivering fresh content to our audiences in all of our demos, particularly in the kids’ space,” said Cyma Zarghami, president of Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group.

Among the initiatives is myNOGGIN, a subscription service for preschoolers, the Nick Gaming Club, a subscription service offering multiplayer games and 3D avatars, NeoStudios, based on the NeoPuppets and N-games.com, a causal gaming site focusing specifically on teen girls.
