Conagra acquires New York-based Alexia Foods


Conagra Foods Inc. announced that it has acquired New York-based Alexia Foods Inc., a privately held natural food company. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Alexia Foods premium brands align with ConAgra Foods strategy of optimizing its portfolio and delivering innovative products that support sustainable, profitable growth.

Alexia was established in 2002 by chef Alex Dzieduszycki and generates about $35 million in annual sales at stores across the United States and Canada, Omaha-based ConAgra (nyse: CAG – news – people ) said. Alexia will continue to operate from its Long Island City, N.Y., offices under Dzieduszycki's leadership.

ConAgra's line of products includes several well-known consumer brands such as Chef Boyardee, Egg Beaters, Hunt's, Marie Callender's and Orville Redenbacher.
