Citibank, NA Bangladesh has taken a new initiative to provide retail banking services of Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd (DBBL) for its employees and owners of Citibank corporate customers in Bangladesh.An agreement to this effect was signed between the banks yesterday in Dhaka, says a press release.
It will also work together with DBBL for comprehensive capacity building and exploring further business opportunities.
Muhammad Shahidul Islam, senior executive vice president and head of Credit of DBBL, and Mahbubur Rahman, director and head of Financial Institutions of Citibank NA Bangladesh, signed the deal on behalf of their companies.
Md Yeasin Ai, managing director (MD) of DBBL, Mamun Rashid, MD and Citigroup Country Officer, AHM Nazmul Quadir, additional managing director of DBBL, Khondkar Rashed Maqsood, director and head of Global Transaction Services, Citibank NA and other senior officials from both the organisations were present on this occasion.
Lyne'e Bradley, vice president (Fixed Income) of Citigroup, Hong Kong, and Richard Martin Smyth, MD and head of portfolio management, Citigroup, South Asia, were also present on the occasion.
At the signing ceremony, Yeasin Ali said: "I believe this is a unique opportunity for the two organisations to join hands and offer our wide spectrum of services to Citibank customers. Dutch-Bangla Bank believes in its uncompromising commitment to fulfil its customer needs and satisfaction and to become their first choice in banking."
Speaking at the function Mamun Rashid said, "With 39 branches that would reach 49 shortly, 130 ATMs with international access, real-time online services and credit cards, the DBBL has the required technology and infrastructure to offer the retail banking services to the Citibank's clients. So it is beneficial to both DBBL and Citibank NA to enter into an agreement under which the two parties will form a strategic alliance to serve their clients better."
